Annan<br \/>\nSecretary-General of the United Nations<br \/>\nOne United Nations Plaza<br \/>\nNew York, NY 10017<br \/>\nYour Excellency;<br \/>\nWe the undersigned, having tried unsuccessfully to gain justice through the usual channels, ask for your intervention in this urgent matter to save an innocent life;<br \/>\nAfsane Noroozi, an Iranian woman is currently facing a death sentence after being convicted of dubious charges of murder. In reality, Afsane killed her assailant, a high ranking member of Iranian security police in defense and to avoid a sexual assault.<br \/>\nSelf-defense was not considered as a legitimate argument at her trial, according to Islamic Republic?s judiciary rulings.<br \/>\nAfsane joins one of the world?s largest death-rows, awaiting her sentence by a government that is already one of the major enforcers of capital punishment globally.
